  • Poor bathroom design
  • Incorrect application of waterproofing system components
  • Incorrect positioning as well as installation of the shower screen
  • Water stops for hobless showers being too low
  • No priming before waterproofing membrane application
  • Incorrect selection, installation or lack of a bond breaker
  • Incorrect bond breaker size for membrane classification
  • Sealant incompatible with waterproofing membrane
  • Waterproofing membrane and tile adhesive not compatible

A cement based adhesive is recommended because compared to a premixed tile adhesive, a cement based tile adhesive dries by a chemical process and cure over a membrane.
